Seattle WA

We made it! We’re here in Seattle and we are starting the next major leg of our trip. At this point we aren’t quite sure what that will look like, as we are now nearly into winter, and the temperatures at night are dropping down into the 30’s. Luckily, we have a few days to think over what our strategy will be – we are staying with longtime friend Pat Celi and his roommate AB live right on Capitol Hill in downtown Seattle. We’ve arrived just in time for all the Halloween festivities, and we are having an incredible amount of fun with the guys, going to second hand stores and costume stores looking for the perfect costumes for them. Chelsea’s got a great start on hers – we’ll post photos on Halloween.

Our flight here was incredibly smooth – we left Boston’s Logan airport an hour late, but we had awesome seats, and every Jet Blue seat has its own TV with multiple movies to watch, all the regular programming, and more, so we weren’t bored. We had our own music on our MP3 players, and sandwiches, and books to read, so the 5 or 6 hours went pretty quickly. We’re still catching up on sleep as we have stayed up late catching up on things with Pat and AB, and meeting their friends, and we are feeling the time zone changes still.

We didn’t bring our bikes with us, as transporting them on the plane and negotiating the way to Pat’s house would have been pretty difficult. They are all packed and ready to go in Dover, and we can get them 5 days from when we send for them. We are still thinking over where we want to start – it’s been suggested that we take a train up to Victoria, British Columbia and hang out for a few days, and then take a train down to Portland Oregon and do the same. We are seriously considering that. We would then possibly head straight for LA and ride from there to Mexico and start our south-of-the-border portion of the trip, instead of riding the west coast. We’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, we are having a wonderful time (we’ve needed it after a tough couple of months in Dover NH), and our attitudes are doing pretty well. We are very much enjoying our time here in Seattle, and at the same time we are very, very excited about getting back on the road.
